The competition in real estate is not getting any easier. In this fierce market, it is difficult for a real estate agent to get the ranking they desire. I have seen a lot of successful agents in my career, who excelled at their work, but could not make it due to their inability to follow the latest trends in the real estate market.
In this extremely competitive market, if you want to sustain long term success, you should differentiate yourself from your competitors. Without any point of differentiation, you are just like the others in the marketplace. So read below for some tips to make yourself distinct in the industry!
Be Proactive
With my years of experience, I have realized that in the aggressive market of today, a laid back attitude won’t work. The current stats show that the clients highly value the agents’ credentials, references and portfolio. In order to maintain a convincing profile, it is very important to have the right experience on your side.
Rather than waiting for the clients to knock at your door, move around to get your clients. Be it digital marketing, phone numbers or information for direct selling, you should have a database to chase your leads. The smartest real estate agents behave proactively and are go getters in the real estate market.
Learn the Art of Negotiation
When it comes to the real estate market, it is all about negotiation. You don’t have to sell anything to make an income in this business. Your earning is based upon commission which is directly based on the negotiation skills you possess. In the real estate business, you will be dealing with clients from both ends, the sellers and the buyers. Your role is that of a mediator and therefore, having a well-balanced, effective and influential personality is essential.
Keep an Eye for Detail
The point of differentiation in real estate has a lot to do with specification. Many agents are not very specific and pay poor attention to detail when it comes to the demands by both the parties. You can use this to your advantage. Develop an eye for detail and evaluate everything with extreme focus. It will help you in understanding the psychology of both the buyer and the seller which will thus, help you in retaining both the clients.
Know How to Use Technology
With the average age of real estate agents being 57, a lot of the agents are very well versed in the traditional market but don’t know anything about digital strategies. The real estate agents, who use internet to their benefit, market their services on a large platform, develop contacts with people, conduct research on specific niche and retain more customers, especially from the younger generations.
