3 Tips for Choosing the Right Real Estate Prospecting Method

When I started my career as a real estate agent 25 years back, I experienced that not all real estate prospecting methods delivered me similar results. There were times when cold calling brought me the maximum number of clients, while sometimes I found million-dollar worth real estate deals from expired listings. In the process of constant learning and improvement, I kept finding ways to determine the best real estate prospecting method, and today, I can safely say that the choice of best real estate prospecting method depends on your own preferences and your objectives.
In this post, I introduce you to 3 simple tips for selecting the best real estate prospecting method.  Whether you’re working as a real estate agent at a full-service real estate brokerage firm like Platinum Real Estate or you’re ready to step into the Atlanta real estate industry all on your own, these simple tips can help you select the right prospecting method that is likely to get you the highest number of qualified leads and real estate clients.

1.     Know Your Objectives

You are in the Atlanta real estate industry to help people find their dream homes and earn profit. Thus, your choice of a real estate prospecting method depends on your income objectives. Know if you want to work on a big million-dollar worth real estate deal at a given time or have the ability and skills to handle multiple smaller real estate transactions simultaneously. Depending on your preference, you identify your target market and choose the method that helps you reach the market in the best possible way.
For example, if you’re more interested in dealing commercial real estate, you should consider leveraging your sphere of influence to reach commercial real estate investors. On the other hand, if you want to specialize in residential real estate, use traditional prospecting techniques, such as expired listings, cold calling, etc. to reach homebuyers and home sellers.

2.     Know Your Strengths and Challenges

The choice of prospecting method also largely depends on your own skills and challenges. For example, if you have the talent to spark up a conversation with a stranger, you may consider using cold calling for prospecting purpose. On the other hand, if you’re a tech-savvy person, online prospecting could be the best choice for you.
Also, remember that skills can be developed. We cannot entitle any single prospecting method as the ‘best’ method. At any given time, a real estate agent is required to use a combination of different real estate prospecting methods to reach maximum number of possible clients.
